Study trip of the Methodological centre of Industrial Heritage researchers to Norway
The second study trip of the Methodological Centre of Industrial Heritage to Norway took place from 13th March to 18th March 2016. The aim of the trip was visit technical monuments in Norway (Hordaland). This excursion focused on monuments in fishing textile and processing industry.
The second study trip of the Methodological Centre of Industrial Heritage to Norway took place from 13th March to 18th March 2016. The trip was realized within the framework of Industrial Heritage project – exchange of experience, documentation and industrial heritage evaluation.
In the area of Hordaland County they focused on three key industries: fishing, textile and processing industry.
The study trip program consisted of visits to museums dedicated to presentation of Bergen history Hansa museum in Bryggen, and traditional livelihood - fishing – Norges Fiskerin Muzeum.
Secondly, it focused on the industry of wool processing and textile production which played a significant role in the history of the area. Nowadays some buildings are (after successful conversion) opened to general public – museum Salhus Tricotage fabrikk, or they continue the tradition of wool processing – wool spinning mill Hillesvag Ullvarefabrikk in Hjelmås. In Ytre Arna clothing company Oleana uses the premises of the 19th century leading textile producer Arne Fabrikker A/S for its production and established a museum there, too.
The third important industry segment whose live production the group of researchers (extended by the representatives of the Hordaland County) were able to visit, were the sites of oil and gas processing, see. Sture-terminalen and Statoil Kollsnes.
The Czech researchers gained new relevant information about the industrial heritage protection in Norway and they broadened their network of potential partner institutions which could lead to future cooperation.
