About The National Heritage Institute

Our country is rich in historical landmarks. Many of them are state-owned, and we take care of them. We share their stories and open their gates so they can continue to thrive and evolve in this millennium. We also study these monuments and assist those who care for them. We are proud of every restored chapel, timber house, castle, brewery, or even a unique bridge. That’s why we want to introduce them to you.

Institution

The National Heritage Institute is the largest contributory organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Current laws, particularly the heritage conservation law, assign it a range of specialist tasks related to state heritage conservation.

Science and research

Science and research are an integral part of heritage conservation. They form the foundation for the qualified selection and legal protection of monuments, as well as specialized care for them.

Education

We believe that heritage conservation is meaningful, which is why we strive to inspire children, adults, and seniors and awaken their passion for monuments and cultural heritage. Discovering the value of these landmarks and fostering a lasting connection with them is the main goal of our courses, educational programs, workshops, and other educational events designed for schools and individuals.

Projects

The National Heritage Institute manages several of its own projects, organizes engaging events for both the public and experts, and also participates in activities of other organizations.
