Easter at heritage sites will offer traditions, spring decorations, and programs for families with children
Easter doesn’t have to be just about whipping willow branches and dyeing eggs. This year, try enriching your holiday with a diverse program at one of the heritage sites managed by the National Heritage Institute. Festively decorated historic interiors, markets full of delicious treats, and activities for children await visitors who want to experience the spring holidays a little differently.
The main events will take place from April 2 to April 6, 2026, although some sites will welcome visitors even earlier. Here are a few tips on where to go:
Easter Markets and Festivities
The grounds of many castles and châteaux will be filled with stalls and the aroma of all kinds of treats. At Křivoklát, you can look forward to Easter celebrations combined with a market featuring nearly a hundred vendors. The courtyard will come alive with music, and admission will also include free tours of the decorated castle. Sychrov will host traditional markets with handmade crafts and a wide range of refreshments at the end of March, along with a cultural program. Other markets are being prepared at the châteaux of Dačice, Ploskovice, and Kozel.

Spring in Historic Interiors
The Easter atmosphere will be enhanced by themed decorations in historic interiors, which are among the main attractions every year. These can be seen, for example, at Karlštejn, Žleby, Lemberk, Hrádek u Nechanic, Náchod, Valtice, and Vranov nad Dyjí.
The Easter offer will also include exhibitions, such as displays of decorated eggs and unconventional spring decorations at Opočno Château, the exhibition “The Magic of Fragility” featuring intricately carved eggshells at Sychrov, or the traditional tulip display in Buchlovice aptly titled “Tulipomania.”
Traditions and Crafts
No true Easter would be complete without traditional customs and crafts. At Konopiště, visitors can try weaving traditional Easter whips; at Nové Hrady, the program will focus on folk traditions from Carnival to Easter; and at the château in Milotice, you can learn how the nobility used to celebrate Easter.

Programs for Families with Children
Families with children are also well catered for. There will be themed tours, creative workshops, and popular Easter egg or bunny hunts—for example at Villa Stiassni, Litice Castle, or Zlatá Koruna Monastery. Fairy-tale Easter events with competitions for young visitors will be offered at Krásný Dvůr. Children will also enjoy the “Rabbit Hop,” a rabbit jumping competition held as part of the Easter program at Švihov Castle.
