Legislation and international documents

Conservation of the cultural heritage, including conservation of historic buildings, is in the public interest. It is for this reason that both the state and international organisations and groups strive to ensure that the process has the necessary legal framework, properly thought out and enforceable.

In addition to Czech legislation, monuments in the Czech Republic are governed by  regulations and commitments ensuing from international agreements.

Further information on the legislation concerning heritage conservation and the protection of the cultural heritage can be found on the website of the Czech Culture Ministry, the state’s highest organ for cultural monuments.
