Castle Bonfire Night 2019

hrad Grabštejn

The high tourist season will find its peak in the popular Night of Castles and Chateaus. It will take place on Saturday, August 31. This year 95 heritage sites from all over the country will be involved. The central venue of the event will be Castle Grabštejn, commemorating the houses of Gallas and Clam-Gallas.

The Night of Castles and Chateaus is an annual celebration organised by the National Heritage Institute. Its aim is to present the Czech heritage sites in a different way than usual – in a different time, with a different look. And to thank visitors for their favor.

On Castle Grabštejn the visitor may look forward to guided tours in costumes, an organ concert in the castle chapel, degustation of ice cream prepared according to traditional recipe, tours to cellars and the tower, and other cultural events. Also the nearby Chateau of Lemberk will offer the morning program – cooking in the black kitchen. In the afternoon, people can visit Castle and chateau Frýdlant, offering alchemist workshop, fairy-tale shows, fencing etc. To see the full list of venues and events, please visit the website of the National Heritage Institute.

66 other castles, chateaus and other heritage sites (e.g.: chateaus Březnice, Červená Lhota, Hrádek u Nechanic, Hluboká, Třeboň, Vranov nad Dyjí, Valtice, castles Zvíkov, Křivoklát, Bouzov, Bítov, Šternberk, Kunětická Hora) managed by the National Heritage Institute will take part in the events of the Night of Castles and Chateaus, together with 29 other sites which are either private-owned or managed by other institutions.
