The project Field History – Litvínov Region

Since 2015, a group of experts has been involved in the skillful presentation of interesting historic events in the project “Field History – Litvínov Region”. The information is provided to general public via videos captured in the field, and also computer animation.

The project “Field History – Litvínov Region” involves presentation, popularization and spreading of knowledge of the importance of history in the region suffering from the post-war displacement of the original German population. For current locals, the project offers the opportunity to discover the past of the region and its cultural heritage. By using state-of-the-art means of communication, the public is provided easy access to comprehensive issues of building and historical associations. The archaeologic heritage care, building history and church research are presented in a pleasant civil way, so they are understood outside the expert community.

Popular activities of the project include the series “Castles, Chateaus and Forts in the North-Western Bohemia”, offering visualizations of the heritage sites as they used to look in the past. This series involved, for example, presentation of the castles Skalka, Košťálov, Hněvín, Kalich or Oltářík. There was also similar series on castles and ruins in the Erzgebirge, e.g. Hasištejn, Jezeří or Rýzmburk near Osek. The authors present their works via a Facebook page and on Youtube.

Motto of the association:

After several years of thorough walking through the Litvínov Region, this group of friends decided to go public with their “discoveries”. We want to present, through pictures and videos, the current look of the old roads, thoroughfares, gloriettes and viewpoints, of old mines or bollards, of milestones and other interesting points. We shoot short movies on North Bohemian castles (sometimes, we even visit other regions) and we also archeological research, usually together with Milan Sýkora from ÚAPP Most.

Nominated for the Ústecký Region by the regional center of the National Heritage Institute in Ústí nad Labem.

The group “Field History – Litvínov Region”, represented by Milan Sýkora (other members include Filip Šrámek, Karel Zámecký-Pružný, Jitka Kosová, Jaryn Barok and Petr Koka) was nominated for the National Heritage Institute Prize, category: Presentation of values.
